Why do you think it is important for women to work in STEM careers?
I think it’s important for women to work in STEM careers because we can contribute just as much to these careers as our male counterparts.
Can you name a woman in the scientific sphere who inspires you?
I have been blessed to work under some fantastic female supervisors that inspire me everyday including Laura Stewart and Ileana Morales.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that every day brings a new challenge. It keeps me engaged.
How have you experienced being a woman in the science sector?
I did experience some gender bias in previous jobs in the aquaculture industry; however, I was able to demonstrate that I could do my job well. I feel like my contributions are valued and celebrated at Benchmark and I’m proud to be an employee here.
